Mone D. Moore
Raw and unrefined
Dark and sumptuous fruit.
He is the Floridian Summer,
Balmy and unforgiving in his touch.
He: the scorching pavement;
And I: a drop of rain, fizzling and sizzling
into steam that condenses on our bodies.
All moist earth and thunderstorms
I catch him on my tongue and savor his taste,
Organic motherland and thrumming heartbeats.
