Justin P. Pettinelli
Before I was born again this time
I wouldn’t take for granted
What was mine.
Interrupting innocence was imminent
But didn’t have to happen so soon.
Before I was born again this time
I would make sure to say thank you
To teachers who made sure I was fine
Instead of letting little things go to my head
My ego emerging until I was dead.
Before I was born again this time
I would tell myself not to go to that party
But to stay with her and dine.
That Lazy Louis matters more
Even if he’s around too much.
I would hug my friends
Let them know how much they mean to me
Instead of striving for something that wasn’t ought to be.
That is what I would do in this life of mine
Before I was born again this time.
