Beep, beep, beep
Beep, beep
A swarm of red light
Illuminates the room
And worry-stricken faces.
A mother,
Feigning a smile to the nurse
For now.
Yet I see furrowed brows and a blank
Stare reflected in the window.
Worries kept at bay
For now.
Until another
Beep, beep, beep
Beep, beep.
A daughter,
in a deep slumber
Commanded by Dilauded and Versed.
Her father said,
I don’t want her to be
A learning experience, I don’t want –
Beep, beep, beep
Beep, beep
The nuisance that lassos
His weighted words.
A mother,
Unable to hold her daughter’s
Hand so a kiss upon her forehead
Must suffice
For now.
Another sleepless night for
A father
Under a swarm of red light and countless
Beep, beep, beep
Beep, beeps.
